Backyard Grocery Store
The goal of the Backyard Grocery Store Education Program is to teach children about the history of the Cannonball House and the day-to-day lives of families during the 1800’s. The children will begin with a tour, followed by participation in activities in the garden and the brick kitchen house. The activities focus on the foods and crops of the 1800’s and encourage students to discuss the differences in how food was obtained and prepared in the Nineteenth Century as compared to today. The tour and the activity will take 30 to 40 minutes.
