Be Your Own Guide
The Be Your Own Guide Education Program for the Cannonball House has two main goals. The first goal is to teach children the history of the house and how the Civil War affected the day-to-day lives of Macon families. Children should understand the value of Macon’s history and Macon’s role in the Civil War. The second goal is to teach children how to learn through reading articles. During the tour, the middle school students act as self-guides, researching artifacts in the house through newspaper and magazine articles. The tour and the activity will take 60 to 90 minutes.
