Julia Ellen Craft Davis Great Great Granddaughter of William and Ellen Craft Julia is the descendant of Willim and Ellen Craft who made history when they escaped to freedom from the life of slavery in Macon, GA in December 1848. Come listen as Ms. Persley shares her research of her family's heritage. She first discovered her family's significant Black historical legacy on her first visit to Macon's Washington Memorial Library in 1995. She learned that her Grand Uncle Louis Persley is the state of Georgia's first registered Black architect and founded the nationn's first Black architecture firm "Taylor and Persley" with his business partner Robert Taylor of Tuskegee Alabama.
